On March 7, 2020, the inauguration of the “absent borders” art exhibition took place in the “Aymoré” art gallery in Glória, Rio de Janeiro, which will remain open until May 3rd. The artists represented in this exhibition are Nathan Braga and Érica Magalhães. Lucas Albuquerque is responsible for the curation.

I don't usually photograph or film art exhibitions, but that doesn't mean that I'm not interested in them. The reason why I started photography was art. I have always drawn since childhood and loved to express myself in this way. I preferred to draw people, to be more precise, faces. I only used colours in abstract paintings that I started producing when I was 16. At some point, clay sculptures interested me, as well. Ultimately, I didn't want to make any money from art because I would always be dependent on my creative phases and they come and go in such an unpredictable way.

It was my first time in this art gallery and when I entered I was fascinated by the place. The ceiling was very high and gave room to breathe. The stairs that led to the exhibition were made out of wood and surrounded by a tree replica, which was constructed from individual thin, differently sized and unprocessed wooden plates that were simply stapled on top of each other. The walls consisted of stones of different sizes in light beige and copper tones. Once at the top, you will find yourself in a loft with white walls, which has been divided with curtains and wooden partitions. The exhibition took place in one area and in the other compartments there was enough space for other exhibitions. In one area, which was separated with a curtain, there was a pink café, which was kept completely in pink, i.e. The wall, the couch, the garbage can, the counter, the neon letters on the wall and the complete decorations were all pink. Where the art exhibition took place there was an exit leading to work rooms and a co-working space that can be reached through an outdoor area in the green.

What inspires me at art exhibitions are material, colours and shapes. There was a variety of those in this exhibition. Orange, white, blue, gold, silver, green, stone, metal, paper, wire, porcelain, cotton and glass. The first art object that I saw in this exhibition was an open book with blank pages. In the middle of the page there were gold-coloured streaks. In the middle of the right page of the book was a golden speaker chassis and also on the left a golden frame, which was decorated with/by golden angels. In addition, there were five sculptures that brought together stone, porcelain and wire. Another sculpture consisted of a white cloth, which was dipped in a narrow square stone basin, which had orange coloured water. Orange streaks pulled up on the cloth where there was contact with the coloured water. The largest sculpture was in the middle of the room and was a concrete cube that integrated nine green and symmetrical bottle holes. Four long wires came out of bottle holes on each corner of the box and these wires went up to the ceiling. My favorite sculpture consisted of four individual sculptures. Each individual sculpture consisted of two or three deformed gold plates. Some had a cylinder in the middle, a flat bottom and a deformed upper part.
